What is a Spiralock and how does it work?

A Spiralock is a flexible hair tie specially designed for securing dreadlocks. Unlike an elastic hair tie, it does not stretch: it bends and wraps around your hairstyle, adapting to the amount of hair and allowing you to adjust the hold.

This makes it especially practical for dreadlocks, braids and high-volume hairstyles, where a conventional hair tie may be too small or difficult to adjust properly.

What size Spiralock should I choose for my dreadlocks?

The right length depends on the amount, thickness and length of your dreadlocks, as well as the hairstyle you want to create. At Lion Dreadlocks, you can currently find Spiralocks in 40, 50 and 60 cm.

You can also use the category filters to show only the Spiralocks available in the length you need.

• 40 cm: recommended for new, short, thin or lightweight dreadlocks. It is also practical for partial dreadlocks, lightweight synthetic dreadlock extensions, half-up styles, two buns or a low ponytail.
• 50 cm: suitable for medium-length, heavier or fairly thick dreadlocks. It is a very versatile size for ponytails and updos. As a guide, it should be able to wrap around the hair approximately twice to secure a ponytail.
• 60 cm: recommended for long, thick or heavy dreadlocks and for high-volume updos. It is also a great option for creating buns. For a high ponytail with long, heavy dreadlocks, it may need around 2.5 to 3 wraps to achieve a secure hold.

How do I put on a Spiralock?

First create the ponytail, bun or updo you want, then wrap the Spiralock around your hair. Because it is flexible, you can adjust the number of wraps and the pressure until you achieve the hold you need.

Can I use Spiralocks with extensions, braids or high-volume hair?

Yes. As well as being suitable for natural dreadlocks, they are a very practical option for dreadlock extensions, braids and other hairstyles with a large amount of hair.

In these cases, choosing the right length is especially important: the more volume your hairstyle has, the more length you will need to wrap it properly and adjust the hold.

What hairstyles can I create with a Spiralock?

You can use it to create high or low ponytails, buns, half-up styles, two buns and other updos with dreadlocks, braids or high-volume hair.

The same Spiralock can be used for different hairstyles by changing the amount of hair you gather, its position and the number of wraps you make.

How should I clean and care for a Spiralock?

To keep it in good condition, we recommend hand washing it with mild soap and allowing it to dry completely before using it again.
