How to use henna powder:
Henna preparation:
Henna application:
Tip: Before anything, apply moisturizer around your face, ears, and neck to protect your skin from stains.
On dry hair. Apply the paste, massaging well into the scalp and covering all roots evenly. Continue to the tips if you’re applying to all the hair. If you are dyeing dreads, it’s the same process, just carefully apply to each dread, soaking it well, making sure the dye gets deep into the hair inside the dread, not just the outer layer. Everything else is the same as with loose hair.
Once everything is covered, massage the scalp well.
If you've only touched up the roots: wear the cap with your hair or dreads tied in a low ponytail.
If you've dyed everything: gather all your hair into a bun on top and put on the cap.
If the cap moves or doesn’t fit, you can secure it with plastic wrap.
Clean up any skin stains now.
Let it sit for 2 to 3 hours.
Rinsing:
Rinse with lukewarm water until most of the paste (clay-like consistency) is gone, then wash with your shampoo (if you have dreads, your shampoo should be this one from Dr. Bronner’s). Massage the scalp for one minute, then rinse again with lukewarm water until the water runs almost clear.
Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Lawsonia Inermis, Sodium Picramate
Amount: 100 grams. If you're only touching up the roots, use just a quarter of the package.
Here's a link to a YouTube tutorial video by a lovely girl who explains everything. When I get the chance, I'll record a tutorial for dreads, but remember, it's exactly the same, just make sure to soak each dread thoroughly, rubbing piece by piece so that the dye penetrates deep into the inner hair of the dread as much as possible, not just the outer layer of hair.
