Materials:
You will need: gloves, a disposable cap, and henna powder, all included in the box.
Additionally, you’ll need: a non-metallic bowl, a wooden or plastic spatula for mixing, hot water (preferably bottled), and optionally, a brush for root application. Make sure to have a towel and a hair dryer handy as well.
For better results and extra highlights, you can add a bit of lemon juice or chamomile tea to the mixture.
How to Use:
Preparation:
- Place the henna in a non-metallic bowl, using gloves if needed, as the powder may stain.
- Gradually add hot water and mix with the spatula until you achieve a smooth paste. If desired, add lemon juice or chamomile tea.
- Let the mixture sit until it cools down slightly before applying.
Application:
Tip: Before starting, apply moisturizer around your face, ears, and neck to protect your skin from stains.
On dry hair: Apply the paste, massaging your scalp thoroughly and evenly covering all roots. Work your way to the ends if applying to the entire hair. For dreads, follow the same steps, but apply carefully, coating each dread fully. Ensure the dye penetrates the tangled hair inside the dread, not just the surface.
Once covered, massage the scalp well.
If touching up roots only: Gather your hair or dreads into a low ponytail and wear the cap over it.
If dyeing all hair: Gather everything into a bun and wear the cap.
If the cap shifts, secure it with plastic wrap.
Clean any dye stains from your skin now.
Leave on for 2 to 3 hours.
Rinsing:
Rinse with lukewarm water until most of the paste (clay-like texture) is removed. Then wash with shampoo (if you have dreads, use your Dr. Bronner's shampoo). Massage the scalp for one minute, and rinse with lukewarm water until the water runs almost clear.
Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Lawsonia Inermis, Sodium Picramate
Quantity: 100 grams. Suitable for most hair lengths or dreadheads (up to mid-back; for longer hair, you may need one and a half to two packs).
For root touch-ups, use approximately 25 grams.
Here’s a link to a YouTube tutorial by a friendly creator explaining everything. When I have the chance, I’ll record a tutorial for dreads, but remember, the process is the same. Just make sure to coat each dread thoroughly, working bit by bit so the dye penetrates the hair inside the dread, not just the surface.
