Materials for henna dyeing:
You will need gloves, a disposable cap, and henna powder (everything is included in the box).
In addition, use a non-metallic bowl, a plastic spatula, hot water (preferably bottled), a root brush, a towel, and a hairdryer.
To achieve highlights, you can mix lemon or chamomile infusion.
How to use:
Preparation:
Place the henna in a non-metallic bowl, using gloves.
Slowly add hot water while mixing. You can include lemon or chamomile.
Let it rest until the mixture is lukewarm.
Henna application:
Tip: First, apply moisturizer around the face, ears, and neck to protect your skin from stains.
On dry hair: Apply the paste by massaging the scalp well and covering all the roots evenly. Continue to the ends if you are applying it to the entire hair. If you are dyeing dreads, it’s the same, just apply carefully from one dread to another, soaking them well, trying to ensure the dye penetrates all the hair inside the dread, not just the outer layer. Otherwise, it’s the same as with loose hair.
Once everything is covered, massage the scalp well.
If you only touched up the roots: Place the cap over your hair or dreads tied in a low ponytail.
If you dyed everything: Gather your hair in a high bun and put on the cap.
If the cap moves, you can secure it with plastic wrap.
Clean any stains on your skin now.
Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours.
Rinsing:
Rinse with lukewarm water until most of the paste (the clay-like substance) is gone. Then, wash with your shampoo (if you have dreads, your shampoo should be this one from Dr. Bronner's). Massage your scalp for a minute and finally rinse with lukewarm water until almost no color comes out in the water.
Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Lawsonia Inermis, Sodium Picramate
Quantity: 100 grams. Enough for most hair types or dreadheads (up to mid-back, for longer hair you will need one and a half or two packets).
If you are only touching up the roots, use about 25 grams.
Here’s a link to a video tutorial on YouTube by a lovely girl who explains everything. When I have the chance, I’ll record a tutorial for dreads, but remember, it’s exactly the same, but you need to soak each dread well, rubbing piece by piece to ensure the dye penetrates the internal hair of the dread as much as possible, not just the outer layer of hair.
