How to use solid dreadlock shampoo
For regular maintenance, washing your full dreadlocks once or twice a month is usually enough. However, you can wash your scalp and roots once or twice a week if needed.
Washing only the scalp
If you want to clean your roots without soaking your full dreads, tie your dreadlocks up in a high bun (pineapple style), securing them well to keep the roots exposed.
Thoroughly wet your scalp with plenty of water, avoiding soaking the full bundle of dreadlocks.
Then, wet the soap bar and rub it to create lather. Apply the foam with your hands onto the scalp and massage gently using circular motions.
It is better to apply the foam with your hands rather than rubbing the bar directly on your scalp, as this provides a gentler and more controlled wash.
Rinse the scalp thoroughly with plenty of water until all product is removed. Once fully rinsed, remove the hair tie, squeeze out excess water if needed, and wrap your dreads in a towel.
This method allows you to keep your scalp clean without fully wetting your dreadlocks, helping reduce frizz and avoiding unnecessary drying time.
Washing full dreadlocks
For a full wash, thoroughly wet both your scalp and dreadlocks with plenty of water.
Then, wet the soap bar and rub it to create lather. Apply a small amount of foam with your hands and massage your scalp first.
Create more foam and apply it to the lengths of your dreadlocks, massaging thoroughly. If your dreads are long, repeat this step section by section until all of them are properly cleaned.
Rinse very thoroughly with plenty of water to make sure no residue remains. This step is essential to keep your dreadlocks clean, light, and free from buildup.
Once finished, squeeze out excess water and wrap your dreadlocks in a towel. Let them air dry or use a hairdryer without placing it too close.
Easier option: soap saver bag
If you prefer a more convenient application, you can use a soap saver bag.
It helps generate more lather and allows you to apply it directly by gently rubbing it over your scalp and dreadlocks in a more practical and even way.
